Our Primary Purpose

Information and articles on Our Primary Purpose

A rock or a beam of light doesn’t ask itself what it is. Humans do. Einstein’s mass-energy equivalence is a mass-energy imperative. We MUST have an answer. Unfortunately, we make this determination by what is obvious to our five material senses: that we are all distinct and separate physical forms.

But we have another sense within us besides our five material senses. I call it our primordial sense. This sense is built into the very fabric of our being, the building blocks of life itself: our cells. Each cell has its own living energy or awareness. Our cells collaborate to form larger structures of living energy within us. To them, we are just one large collective cell.

Since the moment cells first appeared on this earth 3.5 billion years ago, they had a purpose: sense energy and feed off it. This was their purpose. They had an awareness of life, an ability to sense it’s energy. Attached to that awareness of life is a concomitant awareness of death. Unlike rocks, we know we exist and we wish to remain existing.

All lower functions–digestion, evacuation, thought–are secondary to that primal call of the universe: grow your source of energy or watch that energy fade away. Since awareness itself is a system of energy, that too must be constantly expanding. Life doesn’t aspire to merely live but to feel alive. Our sensation of life is our life. And we only feel alive when our system of awareness is expanding. Or, in other words, expand your consciousness or feel that you are dying.

Our primordial sense “feels” energy and feeds off it. On one hand, we are a physical structure capable of motility or movement. But this structure developed for a purpose. We didn’t evolve legs in order to wander the world randomly. We did so always as a result of fulfilling our primary purpose: to move toward greater sources of energy and connect to it.

In short, to make itself part of something ever greater.

Every system of energy that is within this colony of trillions of energy producing/sensing cells must be expanded. Cells are self-aware batteries: both a source of energy and a means of metabolizing it.

The great miracle of life is also it’s great responsibility. Rocks never die because they were never alive. We begin dying not the moment our physical system shuts down completely but the moment our lives stop growing. Expanding our awareness is our primary purpose. The moment we stop doing that, we are no longer living but merely existing. Not the liver of our life but the maintenance man for our own physical systems.

How do we expand our awareness? Through a greater connection to life. This is an innate desire within us. We do it naturally. Unfortunately, we are only aware of the systems of energy that exist within us: the energy fields we perceive with our five physical senses. When we fail to see other people as a collaborator of spiritual energy, they become a competitor for material energy. They become meaningless to us when we are satiated, and a threat to us when we are not. We live in a state of open indifference to each other or a state of open conflict.

This is why rich people are as unsatisfied as poor people. For all the wealth they have, they still live primarily out of fear. When your primary purpose is to expand your internal field of energy, you can never be satisfied, for you live in a perpetual dissipation which we interpret as fear. In times of need, you are in conflict. In times of plenty, you are suspicious. Spiritual connection, or love, is fulfillment. The rest is a constant struggle against the thought of your own mortality.

If one joins a religion as a means of quelling their fear of dying, they will never find lasting satisfaction there. Faith is only fulfilling insofar as it becomes a means of spreading spiritual connection or selfless love. The only way to fulfill yourself is to make the primary purpose of yourself the fulfillment of others.

Those who attempt to help themselves directly have damned themselves already. The door to love is merely the awareness of our spiritual connection to each other.

So I’m not saying that you can’t change your thoughts. I’m just saying that, if your train of thoughts are not guided by your spirit, they will inevitably end up triggering your fear. You can think your way to being rich, but you can’t think your way to being happy.

Our primary purpose is to expand the energy fields we are aware of. When we are only aware of our internal energy fields, these are the only fields of energy we feed. When we feed only our internal senses, we lose the ability to feel fulfilled on anything other than the level of our lower functions. OUR PRIMARY PURPOSE TO FEEL ALIVE GOES UNFULFILLED. We live out of a fear of death rather than a love of life. We live to quell the constant signals of our physical death rather than grow the aspirations of our spiritual life.

You have an energy field within you that is screaming out for you to feed it. It simply doesn’t speak the language of your own mind. You feel this hunger within you but you don’t know how to decipher its message. And so you never heed it’s call.
